Q&A with Timberly Hund
Continuing in our People, Passion, and Performance series, we recently spoke with Timberly Hund, who serves as a Senior Project Architect for our Belleville, IL office.
What’s great about Farnsworth Group? The people at FGI, particularly in our Belleville office, are not just co-workers, but friends. Our banter and interactions make even mundane tasks more fun.
How has technology influenced your career? A professor in college (2003) said to get on board with BIM, Revit in particular, to be more competitive in the job market. He was right.
What is the best advice you ever received? Be coachable.
Talk about some of your career milestones or achievements. From 2011 to 2013, I worked on the design team and served as the Owners rep for the $24M Brooks House Project to restore the 80,000sf historic mixed-use building damaged by a five-alarm fire. Without the renovation and efforts of my boss (also the Owner), the void would have been a detriment to the downtown economy and community. It was rewarding in so many ways.
In your opinion, what takes an architecture, engineering, or survey project from good, to great? Great projects happen when an environment is fostered that encourages communication, and accountability, and supports achieving the best end product for the client, rather than checking boxes and clocking out.
Talk about your team. Where would we be without Doug’s (Buesking’s) knowledge and quick wit?!? He’s not only entertaining, he’s also a walking spec book.
What was your favorite toy as a kid? Dream Builder Legos
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose? Unlimited-snap-your-fingers-house-project-completion powers
When you were growing up, what was your dream profession? Architect and Tornado Chaser
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend? Hanging out with my husband and kids on our porch or in the yard, or maybe shooting some hoops across the street.
What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you always want to win? NCAA men’s and women’s basketball, no preference
What trend do you hope makes a comeback? Rail travel
