Drainage Study Near New Parkway
Farnsworth Group was selected to complete a master drainage study in the area of the newly constructed Weld County Parkway, east of Greeley.
The project area consisted of approximately 11 square miles of mostly agricultural lands within a greater study area of approximately 37 square miles. Numerous models were created, including an InfoSWMM model of the drainage basins, a HEC-RAS floodplain model for both the Cache La Poudre and South Platte Rivers which pass through the project area, and a more detailed HY-8 modeling of each of the existing culverts in the study area.
In addition to analyzing current conditions, a preliminary Capital Improvement/Stormwater Management Plan, consisting of a network of detention ponds and new culverts, was designed to solve drainage issues identified in the study. This plan took into account anticipated future development within the project area and included a cost-benefit analysis of each recommended improvement.
