Airport Modernizes Car Rental Facilities
Commissioning services provided for airport facility modernization including services for HVAC, plumbing water, life safety, electrical, emergency power, indoor air quality and paging systems.
The Consolidated Car Rental facility was among the final projects of a 10-year expansion plan at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The $480 million complex is west of Interstate 85 on 100 acres that already served as rental car space.
The project included:
- A Customer Service Center with 141,500 SF on three levels plus 19,200 SF Automated People Mover (APM) station on a fourth level.
- A 19,500 SF APM station for the Georgia International Convention Center.
- A 20,000 SF APM station for the Central Passenger Terminal Center.
The unique underground APM system consists of nine, 4-car trains on a 3.5-mile loop track connecting all terminal concourses. The system helps reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality by eliminating the need for shuttle buses.
