Replacement of Dust Filter Pressure Vessels for Parallel Mercury Removal Skids
Farnsworth Group assisted with the project management and design for the replacement of four dust filter pressure vessels for parallel mercury removal skids. A visit to the site, which was off the coast of West Africa, was conducted to obtain pertinent design information and dimensions for the existing vessels. Farnsworth Group developed the specifications for purchase of the replacement vessels. The vessel manufacturer was required to match two existing 20” flanges for each vessel. Farnsworth Group reviewed all of the manufacturer’s drawings and design documentation to ensure conformance to the owner’s standards, specifications, and dimensional tolerances. Farnsworth Group designed all structural, piping, and instrumentation modifications that were necessary to accommodate the new pressure vessels.
The new vessels proposed by the manufacturer had larger dimensions and weighed approximately twice that of the existing vessels. A solution for the additional size and weight was found by collaborating with the manufacturer on their vessel footing design. Farnsworth Group also provided technical and project management support throughout delivery, construction, installation, and startup of new vessels. After the vessel design was finalized, Farnsworth Group prepared the engineering design package. Upon completion of the project, Farnsworth Group assembled all construction, QA/QC, and plant records, the bill of materials, construction narratives, checklists and other documentation required by the owner.
